Spring-a-ling

I really want a long dress for spring. A long dress that does not drag on the ground like this one from the Chloe Spring/Summer 2010 show. Where can I find one this beautiful without spending all of my hard earned yen? Any ideas? photo credit

CFDA

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced the nominees for the 2010 CDFA Fashion Awards last week.  To me, the most interesting award will be the Popular Vote Award, which allows us to select our favorite designer by voting online at WWD. When I read this I was soooo excited. I thought, every year I read about the winners of the CDFA in the New York Times but this year, I'll be part of the magic. Then, I read that bloggers like Bryanboy and Tavi will not only be voting on nominees, but they also took part in the nominating.  The times are a changing and I am so glad. I'm also glad that Iman will receive the fashion icon award! She's beautiful and married to David Bowie...she must have so much fun in life. Anyway, if you want to see more info on the CFDA  Fashion Awards click!

Eau yeah

I  have a three day weekend and I'm skipping town! Yesssssssssssssssssssss! I am also going to UNIQLO to get these:

They're only ¥3990! Before I wear them I'll do a special dance so they can live a long life with me and never get crotch holes. Knee holes are ok. Yipeeeeee.

time to pretend

While I wither away this winter at my stupid desk I ponder more ways I can escape my current reality. Today I found fantastic new land called http://www.opi.com/. In this wonder world you can try on any shade of OPI nail polish you like. There is a hand that changes skin tone and nail length, although it did not make the nails as short as I would have liked. Anyway, my point being it is an exciting way to waste some time and you can try on all the nail polish your heart desires without getting high from the nail polish remover. Elephantastic Pink is beautiful and I want it. I had a nice trip to OPI land but now that I am back in bore-town I wonder what happened to Have a Tempura Tantrum. That color was amazing. It was the perfect shade for me. Where did it go? I cannot find it anywhere in OPI land!

This was brought to my attention by my wonderful boyfriend. Warning: this may leave you wondering why your life isn't so colorful, eventful and/or stylish. Enjoy!

Ooops!

A few months ago I accidently bought thigh high socks at UNIQLO. I intended on buying a pair that stopped right below my knees but I walked the store with 3 pairs that climb up to my mid-thigh. Now that the crazy cold  weather appears to have run its course I can start thinking about my legs again. Thigh high socks could be exciting if I figured out a way to wear them that made me feel good. My inspiration: real people.

I found this picture on Weardrobe. She looks great but I won't be wearing mine with Vans.
These were on the runway circa fall 2007. I found them today ">here.
Then I found this picture of Alexa Chung and now I know exactly how I want to wear mine. So whoever is in charge of the weather, I'm ready for Spring when you are!                                                                                  (this pic came from:www.fabsugar.co.uk/Alexa-Chung-Pixie-Geldof-O2-Wireless-Festival-1762425)

beautiful is beautiful

I firmly believe that beautiful is beautiful but I am so excited about Vogue Black, a new website launched by Vogue Italia. They launched three websites actually but I'm only concerned with one. Mostly because, I am so tired of buying magazines and finding nothing in the beauty or hair editorials for me. It's not like this has happened to me once or twice, I've been reading fashion magazines for years and it happens month after month after month. A few years ago, I got a breath of fresh air from blogs that covered an array of fashion issues and never gave me that sense of being left out that I got from fashion mags.  Today I came across Vogue Black  and I am once again excited about fashion. Finally something more than merely acknowledging that women of color play an important role in the fashion industry. We support, contribute to and love fashion as much as the highly visible people in the industry yet we've remain in the shadows. Once I was looking at magazines in a book shope with my boyfriend and he commented, "Why can't they just combine all of these magazines into one? Why are there  asian, black, latina and white fashion magazines?" My only explanation was that the magazines were not satisfying their customers so those people created something that would speak to them about fashion. The problem that I see in the fashion industry is a one that is prevelant in society. Until it is made better I am super excited about Vogue Black, a place where I can go to see fashion editorials, read hair and beauty features that pertain to me and stare at the last photoshoot of the King of Pop!!!

Peintures sur soi

I was just reading the February issue of Vogue Paris when I was reminded of my friend Elana. She is so hip in the most effortless way. Here she is on her birthday. I think that she didn't have the right accessories for the dress/night she used her liquid eyeliner to complete her look. It looked much better pre-sangria. Vogue says, "Cette saison, la customisation de l'allure passe d'abord par le bodypainting." This season, customized style is initially shown by bodypainting. Which I think is interesting because 1) it's cheap 2) I'm so sick of losing my jewelry 3) the bracelets from the Chanel couture show were so cool. That was definitely not liquid eyeliner. I wonder what it was...
